Ryan Olson - Senior Pastor

Senior Pastor Ryan Olson

Ezekiel 36:26 “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

Words cannot fully express how the Lord has blessed my family and me. I met my wife, Sarah, at Crown College. We have four fabulous children and one less than fabulous dog. We have also flushed eight or more pet fish over the years. Upon graduating from Crown College in 1999, I was hired as the student ministries pastor here at Alliance Church. After 15 wonderful years working with students, I transitioned into the lead pastor role in 2016. The Lord continues to reveal his grace and love in my life through blessing and hardship alike. I have come to greater understand his love with the marriage to my incredible wife, the birth of each of my four children, and through this wonderful local body of believers. The Lord is constantly transforming me, and I strive to teach and speak out of my own transformation. It is my hope that anyone who attends Alliance Church will see lives in which God has taken “Hearts of Stone” and replaced them with “Hearts of Flesh.”

Chris Backhaus - Youth Pastor

Youth Pastor Chris Backhaus

Colossians 1:27 “For God wanted them to know that the riches and glory of Christ are for you Gentiles, too. And this is the secret: Christ lives in you. This gives you assurance of sharing his glory.”

In high school I endured many years of anger and depression that culminated in an attempt to take my own life. My parents brought me to our local Alliance Church where people who loved Christ surrounded me and helped carry me through the rebuilding of my identity and self-worth. I surrendered my life to Christ in 2005. I wanted to know more about this God that I had chosen to devote my life to, so I left Wisconsin (Go Packers!), and enrolled at Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota, where I majored in Biblical and Theological Studies. It was at Crown that I learned who God truly was and to trust Him completely. He provided the series of events that let me meet and fall in love with my wife, Laura, and we have a turbo-charged blessing of a son named Asher who keeps us both on our toes! After graduating from Crown in 2010, I worked as the Director of Building and Grounds and coached Varsity Soccer for a public school district in MN. In 2018 I resigned from my position to pursue the call to full-time ministry. God has graciously provided our family the opportunity to serve at Alliance Church and we couldn’t be more excited to engage the Little Falls community and youth on behalf of Christ! It is my desire to see youth and their families experience the new nature that a Gospel centered life entails - this is the secret: Christ lives in you!

Joetta Mclean - Director of Children & Family Ministry

Joetta McLean

Greetings! My name is Joetta McLean.

I grew up in small northwestern Minnesota town by the name of Stephen. I am the 3rd of 4 girls. I'm not sure at what point your sisters go from being your #1 enemy to your best friends but it happens. My husband, Kevin and I started our journey together as high school sweethearts. I needed a prom date and he had a Mustang. The rest is history. We have a memorable anniversary date of 6-5-04. We are both NDSU alumni and Bison fans! I have a degree in Children and Family Science as well as an RN BSN nursing degree, both from NDSU. We moved to Little Falls in the summer of 2012 from Fargo, ND. At this time, I stay home with our two rapidly growing boys, Broeden and Brekken, and wonderfully joyful girl, Brielle.

One reason we chose Little Falls Alliance as our home church was because of its family feel. Its members care about each other and take an interest in our children and what is going on in their lives. As the Children and Family Ministries Director here at Alliance, I know that volunteers are a huge part of our ministry. It takes a whole congregation to raise a child up in the Lord and we do have amazing members and followers of Christ. I also feel it is important to offer opportunities for our members to come together to connect and at times serve our community. A congregation that knows each other and cares for one another is important to me. Our Heavenly Father has plans for us and we are his instruments in accomplishing those plans.
